Cultural Differences Part 2

• Many public-ish bathrooms (such as those in métro stations, or in the Bibliothèque Nationale Département de la Musique) have, within the same room, stalls marked "Homme" and stalls marked "Dame."
• French students have vacances scolaires (break from school) all next week. (Princeton's break is next week too, but Princeton is weird. And Boston gives students off for a random week in February and another random week in April. Boston is weirder than Princeton and France.)
• France is currently experiencing a baby boom. Once upon a time I knew why - does anyone else remember?
• We are very lucky to have a washing machine, which resides in our kitchen, next to the sink.

• We don't have a dryer, so all of our clothes go on the clothing rack. (This isn't a major cultural difference, since we dried most of our clothes on a rack back home, too.)

• Here's the major cultural difference: sheets get hung on open windows and doors. This gives our apartment an interesting new aesthetic, very laid-back and tropical:
