Shout Out: A Taste of Garlic

Back in late April, we were honored to be reviewed by another blogger, and it's high time we returned the favor. Keith Eckstein runs a website called "A Taste of Garlic," which is devoted to reviewing any and all English-language blogs dedicated to life in France. Considering the ambitious task he's set for himself (there are easily thousands of such blogs), Keith does a remarkably thorough job distilling the essence of each blog he showcases. In our case (click to read Keith's review), he quickly caught on to our obsession with fine French cuisine, our penchant for navel-gazing, our love of bike culture, and our Panda-centric, dog's-eye-view of the city.

Is this meta or what?

Thanks, Keith, for the kind words and for the wonderful publicity. When we're back in the States, we'll be checking in with you to get our English-language fix of French living!

One Year Ago

[This was supposed to post automatically on Friday, but I guess I didn't set it up correctly.]

Last night's dinner was both delicious and fun - we met new people, enjoyed new Thanksgiving dishes, and we did it all in Paris, which provides a fun twist to all the festivities. But we also missed friends and family back home - Maggie and I both called our respective families (who were all still gathered around the table) as soon as we got back from Rachel and Adam's. So it makes sense to look back at where and how we celebrated Thanksgiving last year. Similar to this year, we celebrated twice: first, in Somerville, pot-luck style, with friends; then, in Woodstown and Wilmington, traditional-style, with my family.

I wonder where, how, and with whom we'll celebrate next year?

As if we didn't spend enough time posting on our own blog, we're now guest-posting on another blog: my classmate Andrea writes "If Worst Comes to Wurst" about her experiences trying out different kinds of (you guessed it) sausage during her time in Poland, where she is also doing dissertation research.
