Technical Term

At a colloquium at the Institut de Recherche sur le Patrimoine Musical en France (part of the Centre Nationale de la Recherche Scientifique) on Henry Prunières, a French musicologist/editor who founded and ran La Revue musicale from 1920 to 1939, I encountered a technical term I've never heard before: camembert. Inspired by my learning experience, I decided to make my own camembert. Here it is:

It makes sense, right? I think we should switch to "camembert" in English, since this looks way more like camembert than it looks like pie.

(Just in case you're interested, people in 24 countries have visited Panda-à-Paris since we started keeping track in October. After Poland (thanks, Andrea!), the most hits come from Canada, Taiwan (thanks, Meredith!), the UK, Denmark (thanks, Gladis!), Germany (thanks, Rebecca!), and Israel (thanks, Talya!). If you move somewhere and it's clear that you're the only person in that country who knows us, you too will get a shout-out.)

One more camembert, just because I'm excited about being able to make them:

  1. Cailey! Another legit question: where in Mali is Cailey? Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?

  2. Ask a game-loving local what they call the pieces in Trivial Pursuit.
